This project aims to build on the work initiated in 2022 by Cyprus Music Archive, aiming to collect sound and film archives relating to the music, folk poetry, and oral traditions of Cyprus found in the hands of private individuals, digitize them, and make them available to the general public through an online, open-access repository.
This new project aims to expand CMA’s activities to include archives found in both the Greek and Turkish Cypriot communities, as well as original material relating to the music, poetry, and other oral traditions of Cyprus that has not yet been recorded.
As part of the project, five training sessions will be offered to young Greek and Turkish Cypriots, who would like to learn how to conduct ethnographic interviews, how to collect ethnographic material, how to process, analyze and digitize it, etc. Details on the five training sessions will be announced soon.
